The Lavender Whim Story

The Lavender Whim is what happened when lifelong artist and illustrator Jill-Ann Mark tried out an office job -- with a cubicle and a time card.  First came the dream, then the ideas, then the sketches, and eventually, the gumption to throw caution to the wind and make art for a living. Jill-Ann's paintings are created to be vibrantly colorful and playfully heartwarming. Her watercolor technique uses heavyweight papers and often many layers of color to create depth and vibrance in each lighthearted illustration. Jill-Ann's affinity for vintage motifs, love of animals, and appreciation for all of nature's brilliance comes through in the artwork that is featured on our products.
The Lavender Whim magic happens in a little mid-century house in Ellicott City, Maryland.  Jill-Ann enjoys sunny days in the outdoor sitting garden, sketching, painting, all while watching the silly antics of her colorful flock of laying hens.  One Welsh Springer Spaniel, an adopted Yorkie-Poo, and one parakeet round out the staff of studio mascots.  There's never a dull moment here!
Thank you also to right-hand man Rob and packaging helpers and market assistants Chris, Leah, Dawn, and Andrea!  The Lavender Whim is a team effort.
All The Lavender Whim paper products utilize FSC certified papers, most with recycled content.  We partner with many other small businesses to print our various products -- we truly believe that we're all in this together.
